Carter Anne McGowan represents producers, production companies, playwrights, composers, directors, and actors. She joins Lazarus & Harris after twelve years at Sendroff & Baruch. Carter Anne began her career as an agent at the Artists Group East, then spent nearly a decade as Director of Business Affairs at Richard Frankel Productions, where she was on the production legal team for over 100 Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional, developmental and touring productions, including The Producers, Hairspray, Stomp, Swing, Sweeney Todd and Forever Tango.

In the academic arena, she served as an Associate Professor and Director of the Arts Management Program at LIU/Post and taught entertainment and performing arts law in the Arts Management programs at the University of Kentucky, Metropolitan College, and Brooklyn College.

She has lectured on entertainment law topics for Vanderbilt Law School, the University of Iowa Law School, the New York State Bar Association, Lafayette College, Ithaca College, the Women’s Project, and at the American Society for Theatre Research, and her scholarly works have been published in the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Journal, the Cornell Journal of Law of Public Policy, the Seton Hall Sports Law Journal, the Fordham Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment Law Journal, and in the book In the Arena, published by the New York State Bar Association.

Carter Anne received her undergraduate degree from St. John’s University, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in history and a professional certificate in sports management. She received her law degree from Cornell Law School, an MFA in Theatre with a concentration in Performing Arts Management from CUNY/Brooklyn College, and another MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
